Geo Filtering and Web Censorship

If you travel or live in parts of Asia, Africa, the Middle East and even some parts of Europe you may be subject to Geo-filtering.

Types of Geo-filtering restrictions

Failed attempts to use credit card or payment services online

Cannot access certain websites sites

Forced redirection to geo-targeted pages

Inability to use certain online services such as VIOP

Invisible browsing have servers in the US, UK, DE & NL

You can subscribe to them for as little as $4.95 per month choosing either the Premium US VPN or the Premium UK VPN service.

As a webmaster you may find that the Premium VPN service for $7.95 which includes all four Server locations is the best value. You can easily switch between them and this will give you four different views of the world.

Internal geo-filtering or restrictions:

These can be implemented by way of censorship by the country itself wishing to restrict access of its citizens to certain things. The motivation can be political, moral or even just commercial. China is well known for its political censorship on the Internet which is one of the most restrictive in the world. Some countries, especially non-secular, implement strict censorship of material it finds morally offensive including but not restricted to pornography. Then there are pure commercial restrictions such as restricting VOIP services done in some middle countries where the telecommunications is owned by the state which does not want its citizens to have an alternative.

External geo-filtering or restrictions:

This is where individual website or online services implement geo-filter blocking and redirecting traffic from certain locations. The motivation for this is usually commercial. Many online financial services block traffic from locations known to have a high rate of fraud. Some sites will use geo-filtering to block traffic from locations they perceive cannot be monetized or just use too many server resources.

Privacy or Anonymous Surfing:

The attraction of a VPN for many is the idea of private or anonymous surfing. There are places that monitor and log the internet activities of their citizens. A VPN can provide a safe and anonymous internet access even when there are no actually geo-filter restrictions in place.

VPN for Internet Professional

If you are an internet professional then there are even more reason for having a VPN service. Visit Chris Bennetts – Internet Marketing for more information on why Internet professional may need a VPN service.

SpyWare / AdWare is software that runs on your computer with out your knowledge or permission. The purpose of SpyWare / AdWare is to collect personal information from you and send that back to marketing companies so they can target you with advertising resulting in un-wanted Popups and Spam. Some SpyWare / AdWare will continually reset your home page and add often embarrassing entries in your favourites to sites you have never visited. New icons may also appear on your desk top. Your preferred Search Engine may be redirected to another site which looks the same but returns fake results with its own sponsors at the top of the results. New keyword links can appear on all web pages taking you to their own sponsors. The most malicious SpyWare can target your financial information such as credit card numbers and is able to record your key stokes when you access online banking and other secure services.

If that scares you IT SHOULD!

MANAGING SPAM – WE FINALLY WE FOUND A SOLUTION

We have tried many anti-spam products and found Mail Washer to be the most effective at managing spam. We needed a solution that did not try to make decisions for us resulting in missing mails. This is unfortunately the case with many so called Anti-spam solutions. There was one very effect solution we also tried that forces the mail sender confirm their email thus confirming they are human but this introduced an unacceptable delay and inconvenience to the person trying to communicate with us.

With Mail Washer you stay in Control. Mail Washer works by downloading only the headers (like the titles) of incoming mail to a special preview window where they are presorted for you. You build lists of allowed or friendly email recipients based on their address or domain over time. These are automatically given a green light. Other mail is classified for you based on known spam footprints and spam lists that Mail Washer consults.

The results is a sorted list with those identified as known spam ticked ready for deletion. You can quickly scan the list examining the doubtful email also ticked ready for deletion and if you see any you want to allow you simply un-tick them. Then press the process mail button and the mail is deleted on the server before it reaches your inbox.

Delete spam, viruses and other unwanted emails right at the server.

This saves you time by not downloading unwanted emails to your inbox and almost eliminates the possibility of getting a virus or some other nasty. The best thing is Mail Washer has a built in learning capability. The more you use it the smarter it gets and identifying between what you consider spam and legitimate emails. You can also do a lot of manually configuration creating your own filters. We have found just using its default configuration has worked for us.

Check out the easy way to get rid of spam and viruses.

Save time by only getting the email you want! .

A solution for travellers or anyone living overseas that has problems using local mail services.

Outgoing Mail Problems

Do you live or travel to the PHILIPPINES or other places where sending email from your own email addess can be a problem?

This is the solution for travellers or anyone living overseas that has problems using local mail services.

If you use FREE email services such as Yahoo, Google, hotmail then you are probably not affected too much but if you want to use your own email address or a company based email then this is the solution you are looking for.

SENDING MAIL PROBLEM FOR TRAVELERS

If you travel frequently and use WiFi or hotel connections then you would be aware of the problem. You plug in and for some inexplicable reason you cannot send mail yet it worked at the last hotel you stayed. You might get technical assistance changing outgoing mail servers and sometimes this work and sometimes not. SMTP2GO is the solution you are looking for. You will never have to change your email settings again wherever you are.

SENDING MAIL PROBLEM FOR THOSE LIVING OVERSEAS

I am an IT professional currently living in the Philippines and it has been a constant drama sending emails until I found SMTP2GO. I am able to configure alternative mail servers and alternative port settings but I have found the problem is usually related to the ISP (Internet Service Provider). Many ISP’s here use IP’s (Your assigned internet address) that a blocked or on spam lists. This means that your outgoing emails are automatically rejected.

Even when I seemed to have a working solution a percentage of my outgoing email simply never arrived, they just black holed and I received no indication that they were not successfully sent. After struggling with this for three years I finally decided to see if I could find a paid mail service that works and I found SMTP2GO

THE EMAIL SENDING PROBLEM SOLUTION

SMTP2GO is extremely easy to configure and very inexpensive. I am currently paying $1.99 a month and for that I can send from 5 different email addresses. I have been using it now for a few months and can say I really to recommend this product to travellers and anyone living in a location where their outgoing mail service is unreliable.

LEARN MORE ABOUT SMTP2GO HERE

Its so inexpensive and effective – wish we have found it a couple of years ago
